A distinct characteristic of the Dún na Sí Amenity Park is its Native Irish tree population. Substantial planting of native softwood and hardwood trees was carried out during the development stages and these trees now lend the park a healthy vibrant atmosphere which will be enjoyed by all, for many generations to come. The cost of developing a park of such quality is substantial, and the total expenditure to date is almost €800,000, with €70,000 currently outstanding. It is our hope and intention to clear the outstanding balance through a number of fundraising initiatives over the next six months. One such fundraiser is our Tree Adoption Initiative.
Tree Adoption is a wonderful way to contribute towards the ongoing development and support of your park. In doing so you can have your family remembered for posterity or remember a special day in someone’s life, such as a Christening, Birthday, Wedding Day/Anniversary, Retirement etc. It could also be a unique present for a loved one abroad reminding them that there is a tree of remembrance back home for them. A tree also makes a thoughtful and unusual gift for friends and family who are passionate about the environment, gardening, sustainable living or who have an interest in, or use and appreciate the wonderful Amenity and Heritage Park that is Dún na Sí. A tree might also be simply that special present for the 'person who has everything', commemorating a fond memory, or creating a pleasant place, to be shared with family and friends, who can visit the park to enjoy the peace of this unique environment.
There are four options available and all include adoption details being recorded in a specially commissioned Tree Register Book.
- 10mts sq of Native seedlings €35
- Semi mature native woodland tree (includes certificate) €75
- Mature native woodland tree (includes certificate and copper tree tag) €150
- Arboretum (includes certificate and tree plaque) €400 - €750
We do hope that the adopting of a tree within the park would be a very real and tangible way for people to show their support for this community project and enjoy being remembered within it’s environment.
