We are not running this competition in 2018. This year we are concentrating on completing the Sensory Garden and acknowledging the Schools and Services involved. See Sensory Garden.
Art in the Park is a competition which is open to second level students. Its objective is to create sculptural pieces from a range of materials suitable for outdoor display in Dún na Sí Amenity and Heritage park, Moate, Co. Westmeath.
Five specially designed Art in the Park gardens will be home to the winning pieces. The pieces will then be returned and located either at the school or in the local community for permanent display.
If you can imagine your work as part of the Art in the Park project then our challenge to you is to design and construct a three dimensional sculptural piece of art based on your own theme. You can use a range of materials such as timber, concrete, stone, ceramic, mosaic, metal, organic, or recycled materials. The only requirement is that the material should be able to withstand the very changeable midlands weather!
The competition is primarily aimed at transition year, but is open to all second level students especially, but not confined to, those studying art, metalwork, woodwork or construction studies. Pieces can be made individually or can be a group effort.
Specially commissioned prizes will be awarded in each category. Each participating school will receive a diploma of participation.
