On December 6th, a group of volunteers from the Park headed to the Carlton Hotel, Dublin for the 2019 Volunteer Ireland Awards. Dún na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park were absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted in the "Outstanding Group" Category alongside the Victim Support at Court Group and The Tralee Branch of the Irish Red Cross who were very deserving winners on the night.
We were delighted to receive a Certificate in recognition of the outstanding contribution made by volunteers in our park year around. This award was accepted on behalf of the Park by Patrick Hickey, Sean Kane and Margaret Mandel. Our Volunteers are incredibly important and contribute so much both to events and to the running of the Park and we are delighted to see this being recognised at a National Level.
Volunteer Ireland is the national volunteer development organisation and a support body for all local Volunteer Centres and Volunteering Information Services in Ireland. They work to support, promote and celebrate volunteering through a huge variety of methods and working with volunteers, community groups, charities, events, corporate sector and much more. It was fantastic to have an opportunity to meet with other volunteers from all over the country and hear the hard work that is being done and how much volunteering benefits families and the wider community.
