Moate Branch, Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann
Environmental Policy Statement
Moate Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann is committed to protecting the environment and
promoting sustainable practices in the operation of our activities and facilities. As a voluntary
community organisation, we recognise our responsibility to minimise our environmental impact
while supporting Irish traditional music, song, dance and culture.
We are conscious of our close association with Dún na Sí Amenity and Heritage Park, and our
policy is aligned in all substantial respects with theirs.
The Branch is committed to:
• Complying with all relevant environmental legislation and regulations applicable to our
activities.
• Improving the energy efficiency of our premises through appropriate investment and
maintenance. This includes the installation and ongoing operation of an energy-efficient
heating system funded under the Arts Capital Grant programme.
• Using electricity, heating and water responsibly by encouraging members and visitors to
avoid unnecessary consumption.
• Reducing waste wherever possible through the efficient use of materials, recycling and
the responsible disposal of waste.
• Where possible waste generated will be recycled.
• Ensure that our operations and products used do not create unacceptable risks to
human health or the environment.
• Reducing the use of paper by making greater use of electronic communications, online
registration systems and digital records where appropriate.
• Purchasing environmentally responsible products and services where practical and
financially feasible.
• Encouraging members, volunteers, tutors and visitors to adopt environmentally
responsible practices while attending our events and activities.
• Maintaining our premises in a manner that promotes environmental sustainability and
efficient use of resources.
• Reviewing this policy periodically to ensure it remains appropriate to the Branch’s
activities and to identify opportunities for continual improvement.
• We will endeavour to keep our sites and grounds as tidy and clean as possible for the
benefit of local communities.
Overall responsibility for implementing this policy rests with the Trustees, as delegated to the
Operating Committee from time to time of Moate Branch, Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. All
committee members, volunteers, tutors and members are encouraged to support the
objectives of this policy.
Review
This Environmental Policy will be reviewed by the Committee at least every three years, or
sooner if significant changes occur to the Branch’s activities or premises.
